Gadget to Detect Bacteria & Infection

Canadian researchers from the University of Toronto have developed an electronic chip that enables quick analysis of blood and other biological samples for detecting bacteria & infection.

Today, the analysis of specific pathogens sometimes takes several days, and the selection of an appropriate antibiotic for treatment only makes the process longer. The new technique can reduce it to a few minutes. The chip analyzes numerous bacteria and markers of drug resistance and allows you to find the right medication quickly.

According to author of the study Dr. Shana Kelley, taking large amounts of antibiotics leads to the emergence of drug-resistant bacteria. And the reason for the use of improper medication is the lack of special technology which would prompt the doctor the cause of the infection. According to the experts, their finding will make it possible to save many patients annually through proper medicines and accurate diagnosis.
